Christmas and New Year’s are approaching and Florence, as always, is preparing plenty of events to make the city’s atmosphere even more beautiful and magical. Here’s the program.
The Santa Croce Christmas Market opens on 23 November and will remain open until 22 December. More than 50 stands will be set up in traditional little wooden cabins, hosting artisans with typical products from Florence and Tuscany, as well as numerous gift ideas for Christmas.
On 7 and 8 December in Piazza Santissima Annunziata, right in front of our hotel, you will find the Fierucola dell’Immacolata, the traditional artisanal crafts fair with local organic farming products. A great opportunity to find original Christmas gifts from Florence!
8 December brings the lighting of the Christmas trees in the historic city center, as well as the inauguration of F-Light, the magnificent Festival of Lights that will illuminate the monuments in the city center with spectacular video mapping.
On 28 November, the new "Pietro Aretino and the Art of the Renaissance" exhibition will open at the Uffizi, dedicated to the greatest Italian intellectual of the 16th century. Through hundreds of works including paintings, sculptures, and applied arts, visitors can discover the fabulous cultural climate of the Renaissance.
For New Year's Eve, Florence will ring in 2020 with its traditional concerts in the main squares: pop music in Piazzale Michelangelo; jazz in piazza del Carmine; and gospel choir until midnight in front of the Medici Chapels in San Lorenzo. The must-see event for classical music lovers takes place at the Loggia dei Lanzi, where midnight will be celebrated by the symphonic orchestra.
